Today Brie got her first experience of a swimming pool. It was Autumn's birthday, and in our sunny SoCal weather, her mom, Ashley, threw a pool party.
Of course, it was a wading pool (such a wading pool!) and the water was only about two inches deep, but you would all be proud of how our intrepid explorer dived right in (so to speak). She splashed, she squealed - she even crawled, knee-deep in H2O (any idea how to do subscript on Blogger?), in furious pursuit of some errant pool toys. I was so proud! Autumn, a very capable one-year old, joined her in the adventure, and Aiden, who's a little too young to crawl yet, looked on with interest. It's so much fun to have babies that are old enough to interact!
And Brigid looked very, very cute in a strawberry-covered swimsuit that Billie Keith, an elderly lady in our church, had given to her the summer that she was born.
Eventually, Brie's watery adventures came to an end when she pulled herself up, stood up, and then, in slow-motion, fell over backwards. She wasn't hurt, but she was wet all over, and she decided at that point that wading pools were for the birds (or maybe the fish).
But it was fun to see how she responded to a new situation - with excitement, joy and the spirit of adventure. Just like I thought she would. :D I love our girly-bug.
