Even more drool

Um...Wow.

For those of you who haven't kept up with Google's exploits over the recent past, there is some catch up to do.

For anyone who is totally unfamiliar, Google started out as a web search engine, and did it so well it is now a word in the English language: "Just Google for..."

They recently revolutionized web-based e-mail by offering people virtually unlimitted e-mail space (2.3 Gigabytes, which is more e-mail that you'll ever use in your life time.)

They then came out with the best online mapping utility so far, although it requires a faster internet connection than we have because of the images that it uses.

And now, they have come out with Google Earth, a utility that interfaces directly with their mapping/satellite server, and somebody's topo system to bring you 3d views of such places as Mt Everest, Mt Saint Helens, the Grand Canyon, Bali, anywhere you can think of to look. The program is about 10 Mb to download and only runs on Windows, and the internet connection required is pretty hefty (it takes several seconds to load everything on our t3 here at the university) but if you can afford all of those, you have to check it out.
