Which, besides being another word Brigid can say, is something Brigid is good at using.

I've noticed this past week how good my daughter is at looking me in the eyes and not looking away. Anyone over the age of five would look away in about ten seconds. Seriously, the next time you're looking someone - even someone beloved - in the eyes, count how long it takes till you get uncomfortable.

In fact, I think it's because I myself am a ripe old twenty-four that it took me so long to realize how long Brie looks at me. She looks at me, catches my attention, and then doesn't look away. She lets me look into her eyes as long as I want to. There's no self-consciousness there yet, none at all. It's beautiful.
