I always forget how much I like her. And then I sink back into one of her novels, and revel in the New Zealand setting, and the characters whose pedigrees and pride of family remind me of the best children's books, and the love of land and history, and just breathe a nice, big, relaxed sigh, and wonder why I don't turn to her more often when I need a nice break of a story. Three cheers for this writer, who while certainly not great, is very good.
