okay, I should be sleeping, not blogging, but there are a few recent things that really need to be in the kids' baby books:
-Today my reading of the Psalms was punctuated by a "alleluia!" after every verse. Psalm 135 starts with "Hallelujah!", which Brie picked up on at the beginning, and repeated throughout the rest of my reading aloud, almost waiting for my pauses for breath. Actually, I found it enhanced the devotional aspect of the reading, because it made me think, "Praise God!" after every assertion the psalmist made.
-Brie's newest sentence form is "Look, a __________!" "Look, a star! Look, a mountain! Look, a cat!"
-Sam and I now spend some time every day in the middle of the day smiling and cooing at each other. Figures that the only man other than Adam who could hold my heart would be Adam's son. Seriously, this is a sweet little boy. He just sits and smiles and coos at me.
-Today during the smiling and cooing session, Samuel said, "Ah-goo!" and so I repeated back at him, "Ah-goo!" and Brigid, not to be outdone, repeated, "Ah-go-ah-goo-ah-goo-ah-goo-ah-goo."
-Sam can scoot backward on his back. It is thus not safe to leave him on his back if there are pillows above his head, because he will scoot himself underneath them.
-Sam hates having his diaper changed, but will tolerate Brigid's attempts to "help" him pretty equitably.
-Brie REALLY likes "helping" with the baby.
-Brie is working on her flat-footed jump. She's doing this (and I swear she came up with this by herself) by putting a board book on the ground, climbing up onto the board book (a whole half inch off the ground) and jumping off. It's really funny, because she's so huge compared to what she's jumping off of, but she looks so pleased with herself doing it.
-Brie is coming up with her own ideas about what her days ought to include. "Watch animals? Park-a-slides-swings? jellybean?" Unfortunately her scheduling idea is all-treats-all-the time. Do you know how hard it is to teach a two-year old patience and self-denial? Does this give me any idea of how God sees me? yeah . . .
-Sam has his first cold. Which is why I ought to be sleeping right now: snotty boy = waking up many times during the night. So, um, bye, folks!

Thanks for sharing. All-treats-all-the-time is definitely how Autumn thinks too. However on Thursday in a choice between McDonalds and the park, she chose the latter.
