1) take banana and cup of coffee over to the couch, where you intend to nurse son down for his early morning nap, thinking that a banana and coffee are a good start on the breakfast you haven't had yet.
2) encourage daughter to get out of her chair and come get your uneaten banana, because she said that she wants a banana too, and you don't want to disrupt son's nursing by getting up and getting her a different banana.
3) later, after son has nursed to sleep and been put in his crib, find daughter's half-eaten banana forlorn on the kitchen table, and eat what's left.
4) later yet, decide that now-awake son needs some more food, and so peel second banana and feed him half of it with a baby spoon.
5) when son's finished his part, eat second half of second banana.
There, isn't that a good, healthy snack for all concerned?
