Aw man!

Well, that's torn it. One of my coworkers brought in his new Nintendo Wii to lunch today, and it's worth all the attention. We hooked it up to a projector in one of the meeting rooms, and moved some of the chairs around, and proceeded to play some bowling, tennis, and baseball, all in beautiful, 3d full motion.

For those who haven't heard about it, the Wii - the newest Nintendo game console, with the worst name in the history of game consoles - features an all-new motion sensor wiimote (yes, it's actually called that) controller, which allows you to play games not the traditional way - four direction buttons, or a joystick, and a bunch of peripheral buttons for jumping, shooting, etc. - but actually using your body. So when you play tennis, you never actually have to push any buttons. You just swing the wiimote (yes, yes it really is just an incredibly stupid name) and your little character swings his racquet, complete with wrist motion to create spin and such. Jumping and lunging optional, but oh so much fun.

So if you have a couple hundred bucks lying around, and are trying to decide what you should get me for Christmas, and you can find a place that hasn't completely sold out of them, I would be more than happy to find a Wii in my stocking (sounds rude, doesn't it?) this Christmas.

Of course, we may have to redesign Mom's living room, because four guys in there, swinging their wiimotes (gosh, I feel stupider every time I say it) around could get...exciting.
