quickly on the kids

recent Brie coolness:
-demonstrating both a sudden jump in reasoning and a sudden jump in empathy, Brie had this conversation with me:
Me: I'm sorry you're sad. You know, when you're sad, it makes me sad.
Brie: (thinking) And when I'm happy, it makes YOU happy.

Isn't that cool? It was a conversation about abstractions, and she was able to apply the logic from the one concept (sadness) to another concept (happiness). :D
-Due to Adam's working with her, Brie now knows the first half of the Apostle's Creed. There's something very sweet about hearing "he was conceived by the Holy Ghost" and "He ascended into Heaven" in the voice of your dear, almost-three-year-old little girl.

recent Samuel coolness:
-Sam has taken to reading books to himself in a particular, high-pitched "reading voice".
-today Sam repeatedly grabbed his current favorite picture book, opened it to a page with a Dalmatian, and pointed out the "doggie".
-when at the dinner table, with lots of conversation going on, Sam does a particular, high-pitched "conversation voice", accompanied by furiously flapping arms. (So, we talk with our hands in this family, is that so bad?)
