Last night I went to one of the wildest bachelor parties I have ever been to, which frankly isn't saying much. Nate, one of our friends from church who Jess has known since Torrey is getting married this weekend. The party kicked off from the GROSs apartment, supposedly at 5:30, but by the time we actually left for dinner it was 6:30ish. We went from there to a burger joint named Goodfella's, probably after the movie, since there were movie posters everywhere. Despite a dearth of chairs, good time and great burgers were enjoyed by all. Nate and I both ordered 'The Big Boy', which is a burger consisting of four patties (each topped with cheese), bacon, hame, lettuce and tomatoe. It took some work to even get it into your mouth to take a bite.
After dinner, we returned to the GROSs apartment for general fun and libations. We watched a couple of episodes of MXC, which is an old Japanese reality-type game show which someone over here bought the rights to and redubbed in English with their own jokes and lines and stuff. It basically involves people doing insane things which could (and often do) involve grievous bodily harm. Things such as running pellmell across a bunch of stepping stones across a lake. The catch is that some of the 'stones' are merely styrofoam floating on the surface, so if the person guesses wrong on which stone to step on, the fall in the water and are eliminated. Or alternately, running across a series of rollers that are about 4 feet in diameter which have enough space between them to fall through, and are suspended about 4 feet above a puddle of mucky water. You get the idea. Great fun for a bunch of guys in a manly mood.
After a short time spent presenting the groom-to-be with a few gifts to help him get his marriage off to a good start (such as an UNillustrated copy of the Kama Sutra) we turned on the projector that someone borrowed and hooked it up to the Nintendo 64 and played Super Smash Brothers for a while. I ended up going home fairly early (10:15ish) so that I could get up this morning to come in to work, but it sounds like good times were had by all, including the bachelor who got rather tipsy. Hopefully he's still sleeping it off right now. I believe the guys were pumping water into him to make sure he felt okay this morning.
