Jane and Ekaterine

Hi folks, it's Jessica! I've been at the hospital on continuous fetal monitoring for about three and a half weeks now, but yesterday I got an internet connection - thanks to my amazingly kind brother-in-law Josh - so I wanted to take the opportunity to update y'all and request your prayers again on behalf of our little girls.

(First of all, we discovered that we'd made a slight error in how we were spelling Kate's name: "Ekaterine" actually has an "e" on the end.)

They measured yesterday on the ultrasound as being about four pounds each, which is great (the estimate was 3 lbs., 15 oz for one and 4 lbs., 4 oz for the other, to be exact), and we have a plan to deliver in two weeks, which is as long as we can push it with this sort of twins. Praise God for their good growth! If they keep growing at the rate they have been, they'll be about five pounds each at delivery!

But one of the girls has visible on the ultrasound a couple of strange spots on the very edge of her abdomen; the maternal-fetal specialist can't tell if it's just under her skin or in the very front of her liver, and we don't know what's causing it. According to the doctor, there's a good chance that it means nothing at all, but if it does mean something, it probably means something bad, like that the baby had a virus that could have caused serious damage to her eyes, ears and/or brain.

Please pray that our little girl is okay, and that the spots are completely benign. Please also pray that these two babies continue to grow well and do fine until their delivery. Thank you so much for your prayers.

love,
Jessica
