Or, in other words, we have a scheduled delivery date. :)
Kate and Jane are scheduled to arrive at noon, on Thursday, February 7. As long as they continue to behave on the monitors for the next week and a half, that's when we'll be meeting them. We're so excited! Both to meet our girls, and to have an end to this long, long hospital stay.
Feb. 7 will be when they are 34 weeks along, which is as far as the doctors are willing to let monoamniotic twins go. So if we get there, that means we'll have given them as much in utero time as we possibly can.
There's a small chance that they'll be mature enough to come home with me when I check out, but it's more likely that they'll be in the NICU for a couple of weeks. Hopefully though, as 34-weekers, it'll be mostly for feeding and growing, and not for the more scary prematurity problems.
Babies usually develop their sucking reflex between 34 and 36 weeks gestation, so the girls might come out knowing how to eat and they might not. They might be able to breathe on their own and they might not. They might be able to maintain their body temperature and they might not. They'll be right on the edge of all of those things, and we just have to wait until they're born to see where they're at, but if they don't know how to do all of those things, they should be far enough along that it won't take them months and months to develop them.
Which is good news. :)
So please continue to pray for us, as we finish this last, long stretch, and please pray for our little girls, that in this last week and a half in their proper environment that they would grow and mature as much as possible, so that they can come out ready to live in this harsher world. And please continue to pray for the one who had those little spots on her belly.

p.s. Samuel is learning to talk in complete sentences - pronoun, verb, subject. It's so fun to hear him say "I". :) And Brigid has come up with her first original joke. She just thinks it's hilarious to tell me "Good morning!" when they call at bedtime to say "Good night." :D

Wow, what a week! Super Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, and all leading to the main event: the debut of your darling daughters! We can't wait for pictures. Hint hint. :)
Hi Adam and Jessica, Well I have just checked your blog again to see the latest and see that today is the big day. Of course you have yet to get to that big day but it means that I get in with a little bit of time to soak it all in prayer beforehand. God's in control and He knows what is to come. God Bless.
