6 months!

Jane and Kate are half a year old this week!

And, may I take this moment to say: life right now is MUCH BETTER than life six months ago was.

Anyway.

The girls can play with toys now. They roll all over the place and never stay where you put them. They're very observant of what's going on around them.

They've began to notice each other. They like to grab and chew on each other's hands.

They can almost sit unassisted. They love being bounced. Playing "this little piggy" makes them giggle.

I love, love, love how their faces light up when you make eye contact with them and smile.

Jane sticks her tongue out a lot, looking like she's tasting the air. She just figured out how to blow raspberries with it, and sticking out her tongue is something she does when she's really happy and ready to play. It's terribly cute. Sometimes she hums, which I also think is adorable.

Katie has lots of fun noises. She sounds like a little bird, creeling and tweeting and cawing. She also makes this funny, unvoiced "gaaaaaaaaaa" just under her breath that's insanely endearing.

Their favorite position to be in is a standing position, and all they need to stay in it is a pair of balancing hands on their hips. They take two or three naps a day, and have just started a bit of solid food here and there - mostly just tastes. They're not quite ready for real solid food, since they haven't quite lost the tongue-thrust reflex. But they seem to enjoy getting to suck on a peach now or them, or have a taste of hummus or banana.

Their hair is getting thicker, beginning to grow in all over their heads, and the long stuff in front is getting longer, but it's still too wispy to really hold a barrette. They've transistioned into 6-9 month clothes, which astounds me. I'm looking forward to getting their official weights at their 6 month appointment in a week.

Kate and Jane, you liven up and light up our household. We love you, and we're so glad you're here!
